Whilst attending Ashton-on-Mersey School and Sixth Form, O’Hara would begin his footballing career with local side, Urmston Town.
On the 1st July 2013, the young Republic of Ireland goalkeeper would join Premier League giants Manchester United in the youth team set-up, and after making his way up to The Red Devils Under-21 team, Kieran signed a deal with the OldTrafford club in the summer of 2014.
Despite this, O’Hara was loaned out to try and impress the coaching staff at Manchester United and a loan move to A.F.C. Fylde was completed. Following his time at the Lancashire club, then competing in the sixth tier of English Football, Kieran returned to The Red Devils and completed 90 minutes of football against Manchester City, with his side already crowned as league champions.
Loan spells at League Two side Morecambe and National League North club Stockport County took place before making his move to League Two newcomers Macclesfield Town on the 15th August 2018, agreeing on a one year loan deal with the Moss Rose Club.
O’Hara made his debut for The Silkmen in a home fixture against Cheltenham Town on Tuesday 21st August 2018 and days later, was named in the Republic of Ireland’s provisional squad for their games against Wales and Poland in September 2018.
On Tuesday 28th August 2018, Kieran’s name will go down in SIlkmen folklore as his three saves in the penalty-shootout against The Saddlers of League One side Walsall guarenteed the Moss Rose’s side place in the third round of the Carabao Cup, a feat that has never been achieved before by our beloved blues!
