Date of birth
Luke Simpson was born on the 23rd September 1994 in Heywood, Greater Manchester.
Simpson began his career at Oldham Athletic and soon after he made the switch to Northern Premier League side Nantwich Town on a one-month loan in August 2013.
2013 also saw the goalkeeper join Cumbrian club Workington A.F.C. on a one-month youth loan and in January 2014, the Mancunian shot-stopper would join then Championship side Leicester City, again on a youth loan until the end of the 2013/2014 season.
In August 2014, Simpson was on the move again, this time signing for Accrington Stanley and on his debut, saved a second half penalty against Southend United.
He then joined Watford’s U21 side and at the end of the 2015/2016 season, he was released and headed on to pastures new.
York City snapped him up following a successful trial and the goalkeeper signed a two-year contract at Bootham Crescent.
Luke was released at the end of the 2017/2018 season, with York City finishing 11th in the National League North, making one appearance for The Minstermen.
He signed on non-contract terms for The Silkmen on 2nd August 2018.
