Macc forward Scott Wilson says he’s pleased with his input over two difficult away tasks for the Silkmen, but his sole focus is on helping the squad back to the top of the National League table.

Wilson grabbed the only goal of the game as Macclesfield travelled to Leyton Orient and left with three points, and had chances as the team narrowly lost to Dagenham on Tuesday.

Though he says he was glad to get his goal at Orient, Wilson says now’s the time to focus on opening up a gap once again.

“It was good to get a goal at Orient,” he said. “That was a tough game, and I think they’re in a bit of a false position because they are a good team.

“It’s good to get them whilst they’re low on confidence and beat them away from home. We’re still in good form after two tough away performances.

Macclesfield did see their six game winning run come to an end with defeat at Dagenham, but with Eastleigh coming up this weekend before a trip to League Two side Forest Green Rovers in the FA Cup Scott senses an opportunity to capitalise.

Speaking ahead of the game with Eastleigh, he said: “We want to go into the cup game top of the league just like we did last time against Stourbridge. We want to leave ourselves top of the league for the next two weeks.”
