Saturday sees the Silkmen begin their 2017 FA Cup campaign away to Stourbridge, after enjoying a good run of form in the National League which has left them top of the table.

SilkmenTV spoke to September’s National League Player of the Month Scott Wilson ahead of the game.

Scott said: “Everyone always wants to win the FA Cup. It is a lovely competition to be in and we will do our best in it. It has come at a good time with us at the top of the league.”

The break provides Macclesfield Town with more time at the summit of the National League table, but Saturday’s opposition must not be overlooked. The Northern Premier League Premier Division side will look to cause an upset against the Silkmen and have history in the cup after reaching the third round in 2016-17 including a victory over League One club Northampton Town.

“In previous year’s they have done well in the competition and we will not take anything for granted. It is a tough team to face, especially away from home. We have to go there with a solid mindset that we are going to there and do a professional job and try to win the game.”
