Danny Whitehead is excited to get back onto the Moss Rose pitch after agreeing a deal that will keep him at the club until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old midfielder described the process after himself and Wigan Athletic mutually ended his time at the club: “I am delighted to be back. It moved fairly quickly, as soon as I heard there was interest it was an easy decision for me.”
"The gaffer has always been welcome for me to come back and it is going to be really important for me to get some game time so I am really looking forward to it.”
Whitehead’s return to Macclesfield Town comes at a positive time for the club, as they currently find themselves in seventh position in the National League table.
“We are looking really strong at the moment we just need to keep it going and not fall short at the end of the season. There’s a few new faces and a few familiar faces but that happens. I know it is a strong team, they are a close-knit group. It is going to be hard to get back into the team but it’s tough competition and that is how it should be.”
Whitehead will hope to be involved in some capacity during Saturday’s game at the Moss Rose against Maidstone United.
“I haven’t played for a while through injury so I am excited to get back again. I have been in training for a few days now, I am feeling quite fit so hopefully I can be involved.”
