Midfielder Danny Whitaker says he is excited about the new challenge that awaits the Football Club this season.

36-year-old Whitaker agreed a new one-year contract with the Football Club and now he wants to use his experience to help the new look Silkmen side gel together.

Whitaker has been impressed with what he has seen from the new faces in John Askey’s squad but says there is still work to be done.

Speaking to Silkmen TV after signing his new deal, Danny said: “I’m more than happy to finally get signed up for another season. Sometimes these things can take time but I’m more than happy to put pen to paper. I’ve been here that many years and it is a special club for me.

“I’m excited for the new season. The new squad looks good so far but obviously it is only pre-season so we can’t get carried away just yet.

“With any new team it is nice to have some older heads in the team so hopefully that will help. There have been encouraging signs so far and hopefully that will continue into the season.”
