Macclesfield Town assistant manager Steve Watson says the club are heading into their final pre-season game against Blackpool “with nothing to fear.”
The Silkmen have already defeated Bury and Crewe in their previous pre-season matches, claiming some impressive scalps as John Askey and co look to build a squad capable of promotion.
With only one game to go before the 2017/18 National League season kicks off, Watson says the squad are prepared for their final test.
He said: “We’ve gone into games not expecting to go and turn Bury and Crewe over, but we’ve done well against them. We’re going into this one with nothing to fear.
“This is the final chance for the boys to stake a claim for the starting line-up for the first game of the season at Wrexham, so there’s plenty to play for for the boys.
“The tendency for the last pre-season game is to start with the line-up and the system you’re looking to start with the following week, but the thing about us is that we’ve got a bit of a selection headache! Everybody’s done well.
"Last season at times we had 13 or 14 players to choose from for our strongest side, but now we’re looking at 18 outfield players all looking good with the trialists. I’m pleased it’s John who’s got to make the final decision and not me!”
