Macclesfield Town U21’s fell to defeat away to Glossop North End, with Dion Kemp getting the consolation for the Silkmen.
The Silkmen faced a tough start to the game as North End searched for an opener, and Mike Smith pulled off a great save to deny Mason Davies’ close range header. But James Lawton fired home an excellent strike from 25 yards to give the home side the lead.
North End were awarded a penalty after a foul in the box from Samson Ogundaisi, but Elliott Fletcher blazed his effort over the bar. Both sides came out for the second half with all to play for, but poor defending from the young Silkmen left Jamie Derbyshire to round Smith to double North End’s advantage.
Kemp equalised in the 70th minute after being played in by Kai Del Rio and almost doubled his goal tally a moment later but Will Knight in the North End goal parried away his effort. In the 89th minute events took a strange turn as Ogundaisi was red carded as he left the field of play due to injury, and North End capitalised courtesy of Liam Turner who converted into an empty net with Smith up the other end searching for an equaliser.
