Macclesfield Town U-21’s made it look easy in their latest outing as they thumped local rivals Poynton 7-2.
In an end to end game it was Macclesfield who started the brighter of the two teams and after four minutes the side had their rewards.
Josh Wright scored the opener from close range after some good work from Dan Dolling set up the number 10.
After that goal the young Silkmen refused to rest on their laurels and they continued to apply pressure on the Poynton goal. Dion Kemp and Josh Wright both threatened from close range as the opening 10 minutes saw Macc dominate.
On twenty minutes Macc doubled their lead. Again, Josh Wright was in the thick of the action as he rounded the goalkeeper to add his second of the game.
Half-Time: Macclesfield 2 Poynton 0
The second-half started the same way as the first, with the Silkmen on top and three minutes after the re-start Macc found themselves with another goal.
Liam Chambers added another goal to his impressive season with a smart finish to make it 3-0.
However, it wasn’t all plain sailing for the young side.
Poynton started to haul themselves back into the game. In the space of three minutes they had clawed back the scoreline to 3-2, two counter-attacking goals meant the contest was far from over.
Twenty minutes from time, Poynton nearly levelled but the woodwork saved the Silkmen.
However, parity was restored in the last twelve minutes of the contest as Macc once again turned on the style.
A powerful long-range strike from Jack Samuel restored the two-goal cushion between the two sides and on 88 minutes Liam Chambers made sure the contest was beyond doubt.
There was still time for two more goals. Sean Scully got his name on the scoresheet as he tapped in after good work from Chambers, and right at the death Dion Kemp added the seventh.
