Aside from our own weekend draw, a game that saw Ryan Lloyd net from 50-yards, there has been lots of news flying around the National League this week. Here are three stories you may have missed.
Shots move top
The promotion race continues to hot up as five teams are now separated by just two points at the top of the table.
Aldershot’s 2-0 win away at Bromley on Tuesday night saw them become the fifth league leaders since the end of September. Dagenham and Redbridge have also joined the race and moved up to fifth position. Dover drop into sixth whilst Macclesfield sit fourth.
Torquay record second win on the bounce
Torquay United boss Gary Mills is hoping his side can begin an upward trend after recording their second win in successive games.
They followed a shock 1-0 win at high-flying Sutton with a 3-0 victory over fellow strugglers, Leyton Orient.
The Gulls have moved up to 22nd in the league table and have leapfrogged Guiseley in the process.
Cracker at The Shay
Our FA Trophy opponents Halifax Town played host to a thrilling 3-3 draw with Eastleigh on Saturday.
Eastleigh led 3-2 going into the final stages of the game, but a last-gasp equaliser from Daniel Batty broke the hearts of the travelling Southampton side.
The two sides remain deadlocked towards the bottom of the league table, sitting 17th and 18th.
