As the Silkmen plan for life in League Two, there were a number of things that caught the headlines in the division this week. Here are three of them you may have missed.
All square in play-offs
The end of season play-offs always bring twist and turns, and this season’s ties are all to play for in the second leg.
In the first leg of the first tie, Exeter made the long journey to Lincoln City and were rewarded with a 0-0 draw for their efforts.
The other tie saw Notts County travel to Coventry. Some tough conditions met the two sides and a late penalty ensured that they will travel back to Meadow Lane on level terms at 1-1.
With all four teams still having their dreams of Wembley alive, Exeter play host to Lincoln on Thursday before Notts County take on Coventry on Friday night.
Lowe named as Bury manager
Recently relegated Bury have announced that Ryan Lowe will continue in his role as manager on a permanent basis.
The club favourite, who had two spells in the Gigg Lane dugout last season, was in charge when The Shaker’s relegation was confirmed in April.
He has since moved quickly to strengthen his squad for the upcoming campaign, confirming the signing of Nicky Adams from Carlisle United for his second spell at the club.
Midfielder Neil Danns and goalkeeper Joe Murphy have also committed their futures to the club ahead of next season.
Cambridge keeper extends stay
Cambridge United goalkeeper, Dimitar Mitov has extended his stay at the Abbey Stadium until 2021.
The former Charlton Athletic stopper joined United in June and has provided good competition for Irishman David Forde between the sticks.
His side, Cambridge, finished the 2017/18 season in 12th place after a 5-0 victory over Port Vale on the final day.
They have already lost the services of striker Uche Ikpeazu this summer after the forward agreed a deal to join Hearts on a two-year deal.
