Here’s the top news from around the National League so far this week that you might have missed…
- Orient sign defender
Leyton Orient have signed full-back Nathan Mavila on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
The former West Ham defender joins the club from Isthmian Premier League side Wingate & Finchley. The 22-year-old has also turned out for Wycombe, Aldershot, Maidstone, Cambridge and Wealdstone already throughout his career.
- Guiseley sack boss
Paul Cox has been fired by struggling Guiseley after just five months in charge of the club.
The 46-year-old took over at Nethermoor at the beginning of September but has won just three league games since then, with Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat to Gateshead was a sixth successive loss.
Former Republic of Ireland defender Sean St Ledger has taken charge of the side on a caretaker basis, with the club 10 points adrift at the bottom of the league. His first game as manager will come this Saturday, as the club host Maidenhead.
- New deal for Garrard
Boreham Wood manager Luke Garrard has signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay to the 2019-20 campaign. The 32-year-old is the youngest boss in all of England’s top five divisions.
Garrard joined the Wood on playing terms in 2005 and has led them to sixth place and the second round of the FA Cup so far this season.
He said: “It would be a dream to take this club into the Football League”.
