Chester’s Chief Executive to leave
Chester’s Chief Executive Mark Maguire is to leave his position at the club in April, after he became the clubs first CEO in June 2016. With cash flow problems Chester will make the post redundant but in a club statement they said Maguire “will part on the best of terms” and acknowledged “the significant contribution” he has made. Chester’s main supporters body ‘City Fans United’ are to be told of the club’s financial problems in a meeting on Thursday.
Hartlepool’s struggle continues
Pools boss Chris Harrison has told his players they “must focus on games” despite the continuing off the field issues. Potential investor Craig Musgrave withdrew his interest in the club on Tuesday, leaving more uncertainty at Victoria Park, with the club managing to draw 1-1 with Chester just hours later.
Harrison told BBC Tees: “All we can try to do is hold up our end of the bargain and perform on the football pitch.
“Every day we come in to training to work hard, be professional, and make ourselves better,” he added.
Eastleigh club founder dies aged 94
Derik Brooks the founder of Eastleigh football club has died aged 94. He founded the initial club Swaythling Athletic and helped the club move to their current home back in 1957. He continued to be involved in and around the club up until his passing.
The club have confirmed in an official statement that tribute will be made to Brooks before their next National League home game against Hartlepool on Saturday, stating “Derek will be sadly missed by everyone at the club.”
