Tranmere Rovers sign James Alabi
Tranmere Rovers boss Micky Mellon re-inforced his attacking options after signing the highly-rated striker James Alabi, from National League rivals Chester. The 22-year-old scored 17 goals last season, and he joins Andy Cook, James Norwood, Connor Jennings and Andy Mangan on the Rovers books.
Mellon said: “I’m delighted that James has agreed to join us. He is different to the attacking options we already have so it makes us flexible tactically and will enable us to play in different ways as and when we need to.
“James is a good age and his goalscoring record stands up for itself, so we have plenty of firepower from all the strikers at the club.”
Leyton Orient sign new head coach Steve Davis
After leaving League One side Crewe Alexandra in January, Steve Davis, 55, signed a two-year deal at Brisbane Road on Monday. The side are building for the upcoming season after lifelong fan and Dunkin Donuts CEO Nigel Travis took over the club.
Davis will hope to lead the club back to the Football League, and has big ambitions for the club.
"It's been quite a long week but we've got there in the end," he told the club's website. "It feels good to be at a club of this nature, size and potential. It's gone through some difficult periods, but I want to be part of a team that next time people run on the pitch it's for the right reasons!”
Barrow enjoy pre-season victory
Tuesday evening saw several National League sides in pre-season action, with Barrow AFC’s victory over Scottish Premiership side Motherwell a stand out game. The Scottish side were further developed in their pre-season campaign than the non-league outfit, but Richie Bennett fired home for The Bluebirds in the 10th minute.
Dover Athletic also secured a 3-0 victory over Deal Town of the Southern Counties East league.
