Four second half strikes gave Stockport County a 5-2 victory over Macclesfield Town this afternoo. John Askey's men had gone into the break 2-1 ahead thanks to goals from Scott Wilson and Tyrone Marsh but Stockport recovered after the break to gain the win.

The new look Silkmen side found themselves ahead early on. Tyrone Marsh, one of a number of new signings made by manager John Askey in pre-season, headed home a fine cross by Scott Wilson to give the National League the advantage after four minutes.

Elliott Durrell went close to doubling Macclesfield’s lead shortly afterwards - but his effort forced a low save from Stockport goalkeeper, Ben Hinchcliffe.

The home side got themselves back on level terms through forward Matty Warburton. His clever run beat the challenge of the Macclesfield back line before eventually beating the advances of Shwan Jalal in The Silkmen goal.

Stockport found themselves behind again just eight minutes later. Scott Wilson the beneficiary of a great pass from Courtney Richards through the middle and the former Eastleigh man adjusted himself well to curl home from the edge of the area and double his own personal tally for the club.

The hosts continued to look for a way back into the contest and they went close when powerful forward Jason Oswell latched onto a great cross from Connor Hampson on the right-hand side. His powerful header produced the best out of the returning, and summer signing, Jalal from close range.

A much- changed Macclesfield side entered the field after the re-start, with six changes made by manager John Askey at half time.

The home side equalised, once again, just five minutes into the second period. A quickly taken corner eventually found its way to Oswell, before the former Crewe Alexandra youngster beat trialist goalkeeper Alex Gogic from close range.

County took the lead for the first time in the contest shortly afterwards, when Warburton found the net. Second goal scorer Oswell this time turned provider and his well-timed pass found the run of his strike partner who made no mistake in the area.

Stockport’s comeback continued when they added a fourth goal shortly after the hour mark. Oswell capped an impressive second half performance by adding his second with a well-taken header from close distance.

The home side were awarded an opportunity to add to their goal tally when they were awarded a penalty 18 minutes from the end. Substitute Kieran Kennedy was adjudged to have brought down Warburton in the area, and the Stockport forward stepped up to complete his hat-trick from the spot and complete the goal tally in this high-scoring contest.

Macclesfield’s next pre-season outing will be the visit of Crewe this forthcoming Tuesday (25th).
