Steve Watson will be returning to Moss Rose for the first time since October on Tuesday night.
Although, it will be a strange sight to see the former Newcastle United and West Brom man in the opposing dug-out to John Askey this time around.
Watson left his role as assistant manager at Moss Rose to take up the reigns at Gateshead after Neil Aspin’s departure, and this season he’s put his own slant on the Heed side.
A 7-1 victory over Maidenhead United was a stand-out score-line since Watson took over at the Gateshead International Stadium alongside their FA Trophy run.
However, his side will be looking to bounce back to winning ways at the expense of Macclesfield as they look to get over their FA Trophy exit to the hands of Bromley.
Ahead of the game, Watson has been speaking to Gateshead’s official website and has described Tuesday nights encounter as a ‘big’ game.
“We’ve got Macclesfield away next which is a big game,” Said Watson.
“There’s plenty of other big games and big journey’s coming up so we just have to end the season as well as I know we can.”
As previously stated, the Heed will be looking to return to winning ways in the league and Watson says that his side can now fully focus on league matches, starting with Tuesday’s clash with the Silkmen.
“We’ve still got plenty left to play for in the league.
“Our goal is to have a really strong end to the season and push up the league table.”
