Saturday saw Silkmen bounce back to winning ways on Saturday with a 1-0 win away at Solihull Moors.
Scott Wilson’s 62nd minute strike proved to be the difference between the two teams but Shwan Jalal also played a big part in the Silkmen taking all three points back to Moss Rose.
With the score at 0-0, Jalal expertly saved a Darren Carter penalty to keep the Silkmen on level terms before Wilson grabbed the winner.
After the game Jalal spoke to mtfc.co.uk about the game and that all-important penalty save. “Before the game I knew I had to recover from last week and when the ball was put on the spot for the penalty it was a matter or assessing the situation.
“I know Darren Carter well and luckily enough I got a strong hand to it to palm it away from safety.
“It’s great to keep another clean sheet, personally for me it’s five clean sheets in seven games so I’m happy with that but as long as we keep getting points on the board that’s all that matters.
“The manager didn’t mince his words, we simply weren’t good enough maybe we deserved last week but didn’t deserve to win this week but that’s football we dug in and held on for the result.
“It’s important that winning teams bounce back and we’ve done that this season, it wasn’t very pleasing on the eye but it’s a win and it’s three points.
“I think we should be in the top half by now and we’ve got important home games coming up so hopefully we can take advantage of that.”
With two home games coming up this week against AFC Fylde and Maidstone, Jalal and the squad have now set their attentions to those upcoming challenges
“Hopefully we haven’t gotten too many injuries going into the games but now we go onto the next two home matches and get ready for two tough tests.”
