Macclesfield’s 0-0 draw with Boreham Wood on Saturday meant that the Silkmen stretched their unbeaten run to two games.
John Askey’s men couldn’t get past a stubborn Boreham Wood defence on a frustrating day in front of goal, but the defensive line of Shwan Jalal, Jared Hodgkiss, Keith Lowe, George Pilkington and David Fitzpatrick once again stood firm as the Silkmen gathered another clean sheet.
After the game, goalkeeper Shwan Jalal spoke to Silkmen TV with his thoughts on the game: "We obviously wanted the three points, but I think we were resilient and Boreham wood are no pushovers.
“We come away a bit disappointed with the one point, but that’s how far we’ve come this season with the fact that we’re disappointed with a point at home.
“I thought the lads put in a great shift and it was a tough game, but a real game and we’ve got to take the positives.”
With Jalal keeping another clean-sheet in-between the sticks, he has now accumulated 11 clean-sheets over the course of the season and he told us about his latest.
“Its not just down to me its about the four in front of me and the other four in front of them.
“We attack as a unit and we defend as a unit. Having Keith Lowe and George Pilkington in front of you makes life a lot easier.
“I think Boreham Wood haven’t been defeated since September and they’re a very organised and physical side, they came here with a game plan and they stuck to it towards the end there was only one team pushing to win it.”
