Macclesfield Town’s U21 side fell to a late, late defeat against Tytherington U21’s after a goalmouth scramble in the 89th minute saw the Silkmen concede.
The game got off to a promising start for the Silkmen as they almost got an early goal in the seventh minute, but Tytherington’s defence withstood the pressure. But just three minutes later it was the home side who took the lead with a fierce low drive that beat Mike Smith in the Macclesfield goal.
Smith had an impressive game for the Silkmen, as the home side continued to push forward saving several shots to keep the deficit to just one goal. The young Silkmen reacted well to going behind and equalised in the 23rd minute from a pinpoint Sam Box header into the far corner.
Both sides had chances mid-way through the second half, with Smith kept busy in the Silkmen goal. But it wasn’t to be for the Silkmen after Sam Jordan fizzed a shot inches wide of the near post in the 88th minute, Tytherington went up the other end just minutes later and scored from close range to secure the points.
