Macclesfield defender George Pilkington says the squad are still full of confidence heading into their match with Forest Green in the FA Cup first round proper this weekend.
The Silkmen’s six game winning streak came to a halt against Dagenham and after two close defeats on the bounce following the 2-1 loss to Eastleigh, the team are looking to get back to winning ways.
Speaking ahead of the game, he said: “We put the result from last weekend to bed and we have to go again on Saturday. Forest Green are a good footballing team and I think they’ll do well in League Two eventually. It takes time to adapt but last year they were the best footballing team in the division.
“They have long periods of possession and we have to keep your concentration because they have players who can hurt us. We’ll work on things this week and look forward to the game.
“I was there for a couple of months. They’re a great club with a great set up, and you have to admire what they’re trying to do, which stems from the chairman. That aside, I’m just looking to win this weekend!”
