George Pilkington says he is hoping for more success in the FA Cup following a great experience last season.
Macclesfield made national TV as they hosted Oxford City in the cup at the Moss last year, with the underdogs unlucky not to come away with a win before eventually losing in the replay.
The Cup is known not only for it’s thrilling encounters but as a great fundraiser for lower league sides, and Pilkington is hoping for a good result against League Two side Forest Green on Saturday.
“The defeats aren’t really on my mind,” said George, touching on Macclesfield’s successive league losses. “The atmosphere is still good, we’re still looking to play the right way, and Saturday’s game is one we’re capable of winning. We’ll go there and see what happens.
“We want to progress through the rounds of course. The big boys come in at the third round so you’re always hoping for a good tie, a big payday for the club, a good experience for the players. That’s what the motivation is.
