Despite the nation basking in glorious sunshine, the recent spell of warm weather has not been welcomed by everyone – not least Head Groundsman Danny Walker, who has been working tirelessly to get the hallowed Moss Rose pitch ready for the new EFL season.

Danny rejoined the club earlier in the summer and there is no doubt that together with his merry band of helpers, he has done an amazing job so far.

The vast majority of people who have come into the club over the last few weeks have all commented on how well the pitch is looking and that is down to the incredible dedication which has been shown by Danny over the summer.

Much of this of course goes under the radar, as a good proportion of the critical work goes on long before most of us are awake in the morning!

Most days the tender loving care administered begins at around 5am, as the sprinklers are switched on to hydrate the pitch as early as possible.

Work then continues throughout the day, before the sprinklers are switched off late in the evening to mark the end of another day.

Danny and his team are certainly reaping the rewards that their dedication deserves, as the Moss Rose looks set to be one of the best playing surfaces in Sky Bet League Two this season.

We will be catching up with Danny later in the week, where we will be asking him all about the efforts which have been put in to transforming the Moss Rose pitch over the summer.
