Miles Welch-Hayes became the Silkmen’s first summer signing last week after signing from National League South side Bath City.
The full-back capable of playing on either side of the football pitch put pen to paper on a deal joining the likes of Scott Wilson, Koby Arthur and Tyrone Marsh in signing on with Macclesfield, ahead of our return to the Football League.
So, here is all you need to know about our new signing, in numbers.
21 – Welch-Hayes is 21-years-old.
2 – The full-back has signed a two-year-deal at the Moss Rose, keeping him at the club until 2020.
100 – Despite the defender being in the early stages of his career he has already accumulated over 100 appearances at senior level thanks to various loan spells in his time with hometown club Oxford United.
3 – The full-back clearly has an eye for goal too, last season he scored three times for Bath City. A stat that helped Welch-Hayes secure a place in the National League South Team of The Season.
32 – Alongside his goal tally, the defender made 32 starts for the Romans last season, as he nailed down his place in the starting XI.
7 – The Silkmen are the seventh club to acquire the defender’s services. The 21-year-old spent time out on loan with Daventry Town, North Leigh and Banbury United whilst at Oxford United before joining Bath City and Oxford City later in his career.
19 – The defender was only 19-years-old when he signed his first professional contract in football with Oxford United.
1 – Last year was an extremely successful season for Miles. He was part of the team that produced an FA Cup First Round giant-killing as Oxford City knocked out League Two Colchester United in the competition.
90 – Welch-Hayes already has EFL experience with Oxford United. He played all 90 minutes in their League One game away at Fleetwood in 2016. He’ll be looking to add onto that tally this season.
