Macclesfield Town hit the road tomorrow as they make the trip to Tranmere. Here is a look at some previous outings against our National League rivals.

Macclesfield 2-2 Tranmere 21st November 2017

Tyrone Marsh salvaged a point for Macclesfield at the Moss Rose with an injury-time equaliser in the most recent encounter between the two sides. Rovers took the lead through a breakaway from Larnell Cole, before the Silkmen were awarded a 40th minute penalty. Danny Whitaker’s penalty was saved but Scott Wilson slotted home the rebound. Andy Cook put the visitors ahead again all before half-time, but Macclesfield grew into the game, and Marsh tapped home to delight the crowd of 1,709.

Tranmere 0-1 Macclesfield 18th March 2017

The next encounter between the two sides was last season in the FA Trophy. The first leg of the tie was at the Moss Rose, with the points shared after a second minute Jeff Hughes penalty was cancelled out by a 54th minute Oliver Norburn strike. Heading to Prenton Park with the tie still more than up for grabs, it was Macclesfield that progressed with Norburn again the man to break Tranmere hearts.

Macclesfield 4-2 Tranmere 1st January 2017

Macclesfield got their 2017 off to the best possible start in an exhilarating game at the Moss Rose. Paul Lewis was the star man for Macclesfield scoring a hat-trick cancelling out Steve McNulty’s header in the 10th minute. Lewis’ hat-trick ended with a penalty in the 82nd minute, with Ritchie Sutton pulling one back for Tranmere in the 36th minute.
