Here’s a look back at four of our matches with this weekend’s opponent, Guiseley.
Guiseley 0-3 Macclesfield - October 2015
The Silkmen moved above Guiseley in the league with a comprehensive victory at Nethermore Park in October 2015. Paul Turnbull opened the scoring from a free-kick, Whitehead doubled the score, and Whitaker sealed the points with the last of the goals. Shwan Jalal saved a penalty to keep his clean sheet.
Macclesfield 1-0 Guiseley - April 2016
A lone Paul Lewis goal earned the hosts a victory that took them to a run of nine games unbeaten when they faced Guiseley at the Moss in 2016. The first-half was uneventful, but Lewis was persistent and he popped up with an important header 14 minutes from time to claim the win.
Macclesfield 1-2 Guiseley - January 2017
The visiting side claimed their first away win of the season at the Moss in January 2017 thanks to an inspired performance from Michael Rankine. He grabbed his first on the 29th minute, before Chris Holroyd equalised thanks to a superb mazy run and cool finish. Rankine failed to convert from the spot early in the second-half but was quick to pounce on the rebound, and Macclesfield couldn’t get back in the game.
Guiseley 1-2 Macclesfield - October 2017
Elliott Durrell stole the show with a brilliant late winner to claim all three points for Macclesfield and send the Silkmen top of the National League earlier this season. The scores were level thanks to Danny Whitaker, who was playing his 400th game for the club, and Mike Fondop who levelled after he chipped Jalal. Hancox and Whitehead missed headed chances before Durrell came up trumps for the away side.
