After another last gasp dramatic winner from Danny Whitehead secured all three points and a six-point lead at the top of the National League thoughts turn to our clash with Chester at the Moss Rose on Easter Monday. Here’s a look back on some recent fixtures between the two sides.

Chester 0-2 Macclesfield Town 28th August 2017

The last meeting between the two sides was a convincing victory for the Silkmen, as they made the trip to the Deva stadium. Mitch Hancox gave Macclesfield the perfect start in just the seventh minute, heading home a Tyrone Marsh cross. Ex-Chester player Elliott Durrell whipped in a corner which Kieran Kennedy met to double the visitors lead early in the second half. The score line could have been more flattering for the Silkmen with Gime Toure firing over, and Marsh heading an effort over the bar.

Chester 2-3 Macclesfield Town 21st March 2017

An action-packed Cheshire Derby ended with a late Ollie Norburn winner to secure the three points for Macclesfield. James Alabi got Chester off to a flying start in the sixth minute, before Andy Halls equalised midway through the first half. Anthony Dudley headed the Silkmen in front just before the half-time whistle, before Kane Richards levelled. But a low Norburn drive from outside the box gave Macclesfield the points five minutes from time.

Macclesfield Town 0-0 Chester 25th October 2016

Macclesfield were twice denied by the woodwork as Chester left the Moss Rose with a point. Silkmen substitute Danny Rowe hit a left-foot curler onto the post, and then struck the same upright with a low shot. Chester goalkeeper Alex Lynch had an impressive debut saving Danny Whitaker’s first-half strike, and Chester ultimately deserved the point.
