Macclesfield 4-1 Barrow, FA Cup 2012

Jon-Paul Kissock opened the scoring for the Silkmen in what was an exhibition for the hosts as they earned a third round tie with then-Championship leaders Cardiff City. Chris Holroyd doubled the scoring before Adam Boyes bagged for Barrow, but Matthew Barnes-Homer’s 67th minute goal before a second for Holroyd was enough for the home side.

Danny Livesey thought he’d stolen all three points for the hosts when he struck in the 79th minute, but Neill Byrne popped up with a late equaliser to save a point on the road. Livesey headed home with little over ten minutes remaining before Byrne came out triumphant in a goal-mouth scramble to bundle the ball over the line.

Barrow moved into the play-off places with victory at the Moss Rose, despite a red card for Akil Wright. He was shown a second yellow for a foul on David Fitzpatrick with half an hour remaining, but Richard Bennett’s penalty only six minutes later was enough to separate the sides. Chris Holroyd thought he’d levelled 15 minutes from time, but he was contentiously ruled offside.
