A dramatic injury time winner from Scott Wilson sealed all three points for the Silkmen as they secured their second win in three days.
Wilson had earlier given the Silkmen a first-half lead but the visitors equalised shortly after the break before the stoppage time drama.
Macclesfield went into our first fixture against Fylde with just one change to the starting XI from Saturday’s victory over Solihull Moors, with Scott Burgess replacing Courtney Richards.
The game got off to a tame start with both sides getting to grips with the conditions at the Moss Rose. Fylde had the better of the early chances with a couple of speculative efforts, with Finley and Rowe looking dangerous for the visitors.
But it was the Silkmen who broke the deadlock in the 14th minute, as striker Scott Wilson got his second goal in two games. Durrell broke through Fylde’s defence and fed a pinpoint cross into the box for Wilson to tap home past Rhys Taylor in the visitors goal.
Macclesfield took control of the game after their opener, and in the 32nd minute they almost doubled their lead as another stunning Durrell cross was met by Whitaker who shot agonisingly wide. Fylde’s frustration began to show as both Finley and Zane Francis-Angol picked up yellow cards.
Fylde started the second half with a renewed energy, and pushed men forward as they looked to get the equaliser.
Just four minutes after the break the Coasters got their goal, courtesy of Jack Muldoon, who’s wind-assisted strike alluded Shwan Jalal.
After the goal the visitors increased in confidence, with wet and windy conditions at the Moss Rose causing disjointed play. Chances began to fall to the Silkmen, with the impressive Keith Lowe heading just over the bar from a set piece in the 70th minute.
After a sustained spell of pressure which led to Kieran Kennedy heading straight into the arms of ‘keeper Taylor, Macclesfield managed to score the all-important winner.
A through ball found Wilson, who rounded the goalkeeper and slotted home for his second goal of the game and secure a dramatic three points.
The victory leaves the Silkmen in seventh place in the National League, with Maidstone United next to visit the Moss Rose.
