A frantic game in Cheadle left the Silkmen U21’s with a point, surviving a late scare, as an 88th minute Cheadle penalty hit the bar.
Tony Dominic had the first chance for the Silkmen but his powerful twenty yard drive was straight at the Cheadle goalkeeper. Cheadle scored the opener after a low cross was fired in from the wing, and the Cheadle number 12 fired over.
Cheadle offered an aerial threat as well as a long throw taker, and the second goal came courtesy of a long throw, headed home from 10 yards. Macclesfield looked to be coming back into the game before Cheadle added a third before half-time.
The Silkmen came out after the break in determined fashion and two goals in three minutes got them back into the match. First a strike from Dominic was parried and Josh Wright finished from a tight angle. Then Billy Nixon hit a brilliant strike from 25 yards out to get Macclesfield back within a goal of their opposition.
In the 77th minute Macclesfield equalised through a stunning Wright 30 yard strike, worthy of a point for the Silkmen. Then a bit of luck saved the away side as Cheadle were awarded a penalty but their taker hit the bar and Macclesfield managed to hang on for 3-3.
