After a tense and nerve-jangling victory over Sutton United on Saturday, the games continue to come at a rate of knots. Next up for the Silkmen is a trip away to Halifax, the second time Macclesfield have faced the Shaymen in a week.
Macclesfield go into the game full of confidence as their win against Sutton on Saturday moved them six points clear at the top of the National League. Jared Hodgkiss will be a doubt for the game, after injuring his hamstring in that victory, and Shwan Jalal will serve a suspension following his dismissal at the weekend.
Danny Clarke will also serve a suspension after receiving two yellow cards for Halifax in their match with Dover, and both managers will look over their squads as we approach the end of this hectic festive period.
Last Time Out
Boxing Day saw Macclesfield Town claim a late Christmas present and earn all three points at the Moss Rose against Halifax. Silkmen fans will be hoping for a similar result today, with the players determination seeing them come from behind to win 2-1 courtesy of a second-half Tyrone Marsh header.
One to Watch:
Halifax’s highest scorer so far this term with seven goals, the forward is an attacking threat Macclesfield Town will need to be aware of. At just 28, Denton has played for numerous clubs starting his career at Wakefield before joining Huddersfield Town, Mossley, Alfreton Town, and most recently North Ferriby United before joining the Shaymen in 2016. He scored a hat-trick on his debut on the opening day of the season in August 2016, in a 3-2 win over Nuneaton. His goals will be vital if Halifax are to retain their National League status this time around. He also scored in the Boxing Day fixture.
