Macclesfield’s attentions turn to the FA Trophy tonight as John Askey’s side travel to the MBI Shay Stadium to face FC Halifax Town.

Maidenhead United at home await the winners of the tie, with the match being decided on the night if no winner can be found after 90 minutes.

Team News

John Askey is expected to be without fullback Jared Hodgkiss for Tuesday night’s cup tie as he limped off in the game against Solihull Moors on Saturday. However, Askey is hopefulthat Kieran Kennedy is fit for selection after his injury in the same game wasn’t a serious as first thought.

Shwan Jalal will serve the last game of his suspension, so Sam Ramsbottom will retain his place in between the sticks.

Halifax on the other hand will be without Dion Charles as parent club Fleetwood Town recalled the winger from his loan spell.

Michael Duckworth and Matty Brown are set to be assessed before the game and are doubts whereas Martin Riley has been ruled out.

Last Time Out: FC Halifax Town 1 Macclesfield 4

It’s only been a short period of time since the last meeting between the two sides.

Macclesfield got 2018 off to the best possible start as they cruised to victory at the MBI Shay Stadium with a 1-4 win on New Year’s Day.

Mitch Hancox scored a hat-trick in the game and Scott Wilson also notched on a very good afternoon for Askey’s men.

George Waring was on target for the hosts, but they also missed a penalty in the game.

One to Watch: Tom Denton

Standing at 6ft 6inches, Denton can cause problems for any defence with his sheer physicality.

He needs no introduction to the Macclesfield squad either as he notched in the Boxing Day fixture between the two teams and is currently FC Halifax’s top goal scorer.

John Askey said earlier this season “They’re (Halifax) always dangerous with Denton up front and his sheer size causes you problems. There’s not a lot you can do when the ball is put in the right area for him and he’ll always get goals.”

The Macclesfield defence will have to be at its best to stop him again.
