National League leaders Macclesfield Town will be looking to seal the title in front of the BT Sport cameras in an away trip to Eastleigh on Saturday, as the season nears its conclusion. The Silkmen remain seven points clear of Tranmere at the top of the table, with Eastleigh in 16th place going into the game.
As the season comes to a close, the Silkmen have some injuries to contend with in the penultimate game of the season. Elliott Durrell and Callum Evans are doubtful ahead of the trip, but Ryan Lloyd is nearing a return from his achilles injury.
Last time out
The last meeting between the two sides in late October 2017, saw Eastleigh travel to the Moss Rose picking up all three points in a 2-1 victory, despite a 90th minute consolation from Danny Whitehead. Mark Yeates was the match-winner for Eastleigh scoring either side of half-time, with the Spitfires ‘keeper Ross Flitney also impressing.
One to watch: Ben Williamson
The 29-year-old striker is top scorer for Eastleigh this season with ten goals, and will be wanting to prevent Saturday’s game from becoming a Macclesfield promotion party. After a two-year spell at Glenn Hoddle’s academy in 2010, Williamson moved to then League One club Bournemouth, before spells at Port Vale and most recently Cambridge United in League Two.
