National League Champions Macclesfield Town will be looking to finish the season with a flourish, as they take on Dagenham and Redbridge in front of their jubilant fans at the Moss Rose on Saturday. The Silkmen sealed the title last week with a victory over Eastleigh, whilst the Daggers will finish just outside of the play offs, currently in 11th.
As a busy season draws to a close the Silkmen have no new injuries to contend with, whilst Ryan Lloyd is back in training and pushing for a return following his achilles injury.
The Daggers will be looking to finish the season on a high and manager John Still may opt for an unchanged side that defeated Maidenhead United last weekend.
Last Time Out
The last meeting between the two sides in October 2017, saw Dagenham & Redbridge take all three points in a narrow 1-0 win. Despite Morgan Ferrier scoring the all-important goal in the 50th minute, the Silkmen were unlucky to return to Macclesfield empty handed, with an excellent block from Scott Doe denying Scott Wilson a goal, before clearing Danny Whitaker’s attempt off the line.
One To Watch: Michael Cheek
The 26-year-old has risen through the non-league ranks to his time in the National League with Dagenham & Redbridge. The striker began his career with Heybridge Swifts and Stanway Rovers before joining Chelmsford City and winning player of the season. Moving to Braintree Town, Cheek impressed and made it into Adam Virgo’s Non-League team of the season for the 2016/17 campaign. Spotted by manager John Still, Cheek signed for the Daggers in 2017, and has made a fast start to his career at the club, scoring 13 goals this season, at an impressive rate of 168 minutes per goal.
