Macclesfield Town
Posted:Tue 10 Apr 2018

We’re into the final stretch of the National League season but the games don’t become any easier for John Askey’s table toppers.

A tough Tuesday night away trip to Boreham Wood awaits the Silkmen and three points for either side would make a huge difference in the shape of the league table.

Here’s everything you need to know about the tie.

Team News

Nathan Blissett is set to start his three game suspension following his red card at Ebbsfleet.  Danny Whitehead is also set to miss the clash as he continues to recover from his hamstring injury sustained against Chester on Easter Monday. Ryan Lloyd is out with his achilles injury and Elliott Durrell is expected to miss out with his groin injury.

On the other hand, Boreham Wood have no fresh injury concerns going into the game and Luke Garrard will have a full squad to select from.

Last Time Out: Macclesfield 0 Boreham Wood 0

The latest fixture between the two sides ended goalless and the Silkmen were wondering how they didn’t take all three points from Luke Garrard’s side that afternoon.

The visiting defence and goalkeeper Grant Smith were on top form, stopping chances from an array of areas from the likes of Durrell, Whitehead and Whitaker. Ryan Lloyd hit the crossbar in the second half for Macc but the scoreline stayed the same throughout the ninety.

One to Watch: Bruno Andrade

Forward Andrade has been one of the stand-out performers in the National League this season. Eighteen goals for Boreham Wood (Fourth in the National League goal scoring chants) has propelled Luke Garrard’s side towards the top of the league table and to becoming serious promotion contenders.

Still on 24, the Portuguese man started his career in England with Queens Park Rangers. He only made two appearances at Loftus Road and spent time on loan with Aldershot, Wycombe, and Stevenage. In 2015 he joined Woking but only spent one season with the Card’s before leaving for the Wood and he’s found a home at Meadow Park.

The lively player is having one of the best seasons of his career and is one to watch during the game.
