Macclesfield are back at Moss Rose for a Friday night football game against Dover Athletic. Let’s take a look at the match in a little more detail.
John Askey has said that he is hopeful a number of players could be back for tonight's game from injury. Elliott Durrell, George Pilkington and Shwan Jalal could all be in contention to play against Dover. Tyrone Marsh could also line up against his former employers.
Dover on the other hand could hand new signing Chris Lewington his debut as he recently joined the club from Welling. Giancarlo Gallifuoco was subbed off in Dover’s last game with an ankle injury and is a slight doubt for Friday’s clash, whereas Josh Passley is expected to return from an illness.
Manager Chris Kinnear has practically a full side to choose from.
Last Time Out:
The last time we met with Dover was the penultimate game of last season at Crabble, where the Silkmen held Dover to a 2-2 draw severely damaging the hosts play-off ambitions.
Earlier in the game Oliver Norburn had given the Silkmen the lead as he latched onto a ball from the back post, but that was cancelled out by a 40th minute Ricky Miller penalty. In the second half Macc took the lead again, this time via Anthony Dudley but three minutes from time Ross Lafayette equalised and the game finished 2-2.
One to Watch – Ryan Bird
Standing at 6ft 4in, Ryan Bird is a player that the Silkmen need to be wary of. He’s started the season brightly, scoring two goals so far and has asserted himself in Dover’s starting XI. He also has the job of filling the boots of former talismanic striker Ricky Miller who left for Peterborough in the summer.
Bird left Newport in favour of a move to Crabble after his 6 goals helped the Welsh side survive relegation. Bird has also represented the likes of Portsmouth, Cambridge, Hartlepool, Yeovil, and Eastleigh in his career, scoring goals at each club
