Macclesfield Town host Guiseley tomorrow looking to move top of the National League table once more. Meanwhile, our visitors will be looking for all three points to ease their own relegation fears. Here is everything you need to know about the game:
Fullback Jared Hodgkiss is edging closer to full fitness and may give John Askey a selection headache in that area on the weekend. Otherwise, there are no fresh injury concerns facing The Silkmen management team.
Guiseley will be without the much-travelled Lee Molyneux for their visit to Moss Rose. The Liverpudlian, 28, has been loaned out to Chorley until the end of the season.
Last Time Out – Guiseley 1-2 Macclesfield Town – 3rd October 2017
This game proved to be a memorable one for Silkmen favourite Danny Whitaker, who clocked up his 400th appearance in a Macclesfield Town shirt.
In the best possible scenario, Whitaker went on to open the scoring on the night. Scott Wilson cannoned his effort off the post before the midfielder was on hand to fire home the rebound from close range.
The home side would, eventually, draw level shortly before halftime. Mike Fandop-Talom’s chipped strike beating the efforts of Shwan Jalal in the Macclesfield goal.
However, in what proved to be a late twist, Elliot Durrell came up trumps for The Silkmen when he latched on to Tyrone Marsh’s pinpoint pass to slot home and send the travelling fans into raptures.
The result moved Macclesfield top of the National League table for the first time this season, Guiseley remained 22nd.
One To Watch – Sean St Ledger
Another January signing, who joined the club after his short-term deal at Solihull Moors ran out.
He began his career at Peterborough United, before securing a move to Championship side Preston North End in 2006. He would go on to make 185 appearances for the Lancashire club.
He then moved on to Leicester City in 2011, where he would feature 36 times. Aside from loan moves to Middlesbrough and Millwall, St Ledger was a member of the side that won promotion to the Premier League in 2014.
A spell in the MLS followed as he linked up with Orlando City and Colorado Rapids, before joining up with Solihull in November.
