Macclesfield Town are pleased to announce the loan signing of Port Vale defender Adam Yates.  The 34-year-old right back has agreed an initial one-month loan deal with the Silkmen and will go straight into John Askey’s squad for today’s season opener at Wrexham.

Yates will bring more experience to the Silkmen defence. He has over 300 league appearances to his name, with the majority coming for Vale in League One and League Two.

A graduate of the Crewe Alexandra academy, Yates had spells with Halifax, Morecambe and Burton before arriving at Vale Park in the summer of 2009.

He has been a regular in the Vale squad since but suffered an injury which kept him out of the 2016/17 campaign.

Yates, stepped up his return from injury in pre-season and has featured throughout the summer for Port Vale. His performances were rewarded with a new one-year deal and he will now link up with the Silkmen in a bid to get more minutes under his belt.

Adam will wear the number 18 during his time with Macclesfield.
