Earlier this week Keith Lowe became John Askey’s latest signing. The former Cheltenham, York and Kidderminster man has football league experience on his CV, but is also no stranger to the National League, having represented Kidderminster Harriers and becoming a regular in their side.
Lowe has tallied up over 400 appearances during his career, winning two player of the year awards in the process. Thirteen years in the game can only benefit the SIlkmen, and the defender is “ready to go” ahead of starting his first pre-season with Macclesfield.
Speaking to mtfc.co.uk after signing Lowe said: “I’ve been keeping myself fit, I did a few days back at Kidderminster so I’m ready to get going.
“I’m glad to get all the negotiations done and I’m just looking forward to getting started now, I can’t wait to meet the lads.”
However, Lowe will be no stranger to some members of the Silkmen squad, as he has played with both George Pilkington and other new signing Jared Hodgkiss at Port Vale and Kidderminster respectively. Something he admits will help him settle in at Moss Rose.
“It will help, it can always be daunting walking into a set of lads who all know each other and you’re new, but I know a few of the boys and hopefully that will help me.”
He added “I’ve racked up a few games in my career so hopefully I can bring that experience to the group and if that helps it will be great.”
