Kieran Kennedy says he expecting a tough test as Macclesfield prepare to face Halifax on New Year’s Day.

Kennedy started as Macclesfield defeated Sutton to go six points clear at the top of the league in the final match day of 2017, but he’s expecting another difficult game as Macc prepare for the second of three scheduled matches against Halifax in a short space of time.

Speaking ahead of the game, Kennedy said: “We know what to expect from them, and they’re a tough test. Hopefully we can pick up the three points.”

The Silkmen lost captain Jared Hodgkiss to injury in the Halifax game, and though they are stronger with him, Kennedy believes there will be no problems should he have to sit out the game.

“Hopefully Jared will be fit,” he said. “He’s our captain and we need him in the squad. But Pilks came in today and did really well at right back, which obviously isn’t his strongest position. I’ve played there before, so we’ve got backup and we’re prepared for any situation.”
