t’s certainly been a busy transfer window for The Silkmen so far, with plenty of transfers in and out of the Moss Rose stadium. Speaking exclusively to Macclesfield’s YouTube channel we caught up with manager John Askey for his thoughts on his signings so far.

He started by discussing the signing of 30-year-old defender Jared Hodgkiss, and goalkeeper Shwan Jalal.

John said: “Jared is good experience, he’s been a good player at Conference level he’s got experience playing in the league. We all know about Shwan, he’s been a very good ‘keeper, and did well for us when he was here last time.”

Up next were the gaffer’s thoughts on George Pilkington and David Fitzpatrick signing new contracts:

“George has been our most consistent player over the years, and David had an excellent season last season.”

“With Courtney (Richards)needed a midfield player, he’s a good age - 23, he’s had a lot of football so he’s experienced at this level and done well.”

“Scott Wilson’s a centre forward who’s scored goals at a lower level went to Eastleigh there’s one or two problems at Eastleigh and I’m hoping that with a year under his belt at Conference level he’ll be someone who’ll get the goals for us.

"With Ryan Lloyd, I’ve seen a lot of from when he’s been a young lad who has got a lot of ability.”

“They’re all players who are comfortable at this level and hopefully we can add to what we’ve got and give them the support that they need.”

With pre-season just around the corner the fans will soon get a chance to see the new signings in action.
