John Askey admits that the signs look good for injured duo George Pilkington and Elliot Durrell, who both had to leave the field in the midweek draw against Hartlepool through injury.
Both players were subsequently forced to miss the draw against Bromley – a game that saw The Silkmen extend their unbeaten start to the season.
Askey was speaking to mtfc.co.uk shortly after the match and whilst he admitted that it was a waiting game with the pair - the early signs look promising.
“It’s a matter of seeing what happens,” he said.
“George is likely to come in on Monday and be perfectly fine and Elliot’s ankle is a lot better today so it’s likely, and I’m hopeful that we’ll have more players to pick from sooner rather than later.”
Despite that boost, Askey may be without first choice goalkeeper Shwan Jalal for the upcoming games, after he left the field during the game against Bromley after picking up an injury after 60 minutes. He was replaced by substitute keeper, Billy O’Brien.
“Shwan appears to have pulled his calf,” Askey admitted. "I wasn’t sure how he did it at the time and it was disappointing."
“However, Billy has come in and I thought he did really well which was a really good sign for us.
“I’m glad I had a substitute keeper on the bench, that’s for sure.”
