Defender Jared Hodgkiss could be in line to feature for Macclesfield against Mainstone this weekend; according to manager John Askey.
The former West Brom man, who was one of a number of new signings made by the management team before the beginning of the campaign, has yet to make his debut for the club after picking up an injury during pre-season.
Since the initial loan of Adam Yates from Port Vale was cut short, Askey has been forced to move Noe Baba into that position to compensate.
But, now, the manager says Hodgkiss could be involved on Saturday.
“Jared has been training and has been feeling good, so fingers crossed he’ll be okay for the weekend.
“It’s the only position we’re struggling in, really. Noe (Baba) has done a fantastic job there but it isn’t his natural position.
“Apart from that, there are not many decisions to make. Hopefully we can get a win Saturday in preparation for the trip to Torquay.
Saturday’s opponents, Maidstone, will go into this fixture in 13th place having beaten Eastleigh on Tuesday night. Askey admits they will be a challenge for his side.
“Obviously we’ve got the home advantage so, with it, you’re expected to take something from the game.
“Maidstone have recruited really well, though, and have good a good group of players. It should be a tough game and, as the league shows, there isn’t much difference between the teams this year.
“We’ll have to be at our best if we want to get a result.”
