John Askey says it is all about building on last weekend’s ‘pleasing’ victory, as he looks ahead to Saturday’s home game with Boreham Wood.
The Silkmen will go into the game at Moss Ross on the back of the 2-0 victory over Barrow, which left them just one point behind league leaders Dover Athletic.
Goals from summer signings Jared Hodgkiss and Elliot Durrell were enough on that occasion for the visitors, but Askey wants his side to continue that momentum. Another win, this weekend, will increase his sides recent run in the league to four wins in seven.
Visitors, Boreham Wood, will come into the game in tenth spot, having drawn 0-0 with league newcomers Hartlepool last time around.
“Saturday was really pleasing for everyone,” said Askey. “We wanted to get back to winning ways, which we did, and not only did we win, but our performance was excellent too. I’m, now, just looking forward to the Boreham Wood game.
“It’s always great for the supporters, who were excellent again, to match good performances with results. They wanted to go there to see us do well and to get a couple of goals is what football’s all about.
“Their (the supporters) input is vital. There’s a feel-good factor at the minute and everybody is enjoying where we are in the table. It’s all a matter of us sticking together, whether we win or not, and get ourselves towards the top.
“We’ve got back to back home games now to build and take full advantage of. We don’t get many games at home, it seems, so it’s always nice when we do. Hopefully, we can give a good account of ourselves.”
