Macclesfield Town manager John Askey was full of praise for his sides opponents Boreham Wood, as he looked ahead to Saturday’s game at Moss Rose.
The Silkmen go into the game knowing that they move top of the National League table if results go their way. Meanwhile, Boreham Wood, one of the leagues form sides, come into the game 10th. They haven’t lost since September.
Saturday’s game is the first of a double header at Moss Rose, with former League cup finalists Tranmere Rovers visiting on Tuesday night.
Askey is aware of the threat Boreham Wood may pose and is expecting a tough game at Moss Rose.
“If you go through their squad, it’s very strong. They’ve come from nowhere almost and are run really well. They don’t get big gates, but they seem to be able to get some high-quality players.
“It’ll be a tough game – they’re very strong and they’ve got some dangerous players so we’ll have to be at our best.
“There’s a lot of young players there and there’s a good development squad – so they’re doing it the right way. It’s a club that’s going forward."
