Attention turns back to League action for the Silkmen this weekend as they face eighth placed Bromley at Hayes Lane.
The game will provide another tough test for the Silkmen in particular the 3G pitch, which the Bromley players have adapted to, reflecting in their improved league form.
SilkmenTV spoke to John Askey before the game to discuss the differences he expects with the Silkmen playing on an artificial pitch, and the team he therefore expects to play.
He said: “You just have to get on with whatever surface you are playing on. “It is something we have got to get used to and we are lucky where we train that there is a 3G and we can train on it before we play.”
With a frozen pitch causing the Silkmen’s FA Trophy first round tie with Halifax to be postponed twice in the last week, Askey’s side have had the unexpected opportunity to rest after the brilliant 4-1 win over Wrexham that saw them top the National League, allowing players to recover from any niggles and injuries.
“In the past it would have been a consideration, but most players are used to playing on it (artificial pitch) now so it will be the normal XI that we would pick if we were playing on grass and by Saturday I think everybody will be fit.”
