After two long away trips it’s a return to the Moss Rose for John Askey and his Macclesfield side.
The last two games have ended in defeat away at Sutton and Gateshead but the Silkmen have been working hard on the training ground to respond in the best way possible with a win over Dover Athletic.
John Askey is expecting a tough match-up against this season’s play-off hopefuls, and has been speaking to mtfc.co.uk ahead of the game.
“We’ve been working hard on the training pitch, obviously we have to do that and practise things we didn’t do so well and we’re just looking forward to the dover game and playing at home.
“After the travelling we’ve done, we needed a week on the training ground and we needed to regroup and hopefully we’ll get a result from it.”
“It’s nice to be back on home soil. It’s difficult the travelling you do especially with two tough teams such as Sutton where we were unfortunate and Gateshead. Now we’ve got games we’re looking to take points from."
Dover have started the season well and currently sit 5th in the National League just two points off leaders Sutton United and John Askey also spoke about what he expects from this encounter.
“Dover are very strong, they’ll be up there at the end of the season, but we’ve got a decent record against them but hopefully we can continue that.
"They’ve recruited well over the summer and over the last four or five years they’ve got as good a record as anyone in the National League, except the ones that have gone up, so it’ll be a tough game but one we’re looking forward to.”
