John Askey has admitted that it will be nice to be back at the Moss Rose after racking up the miles in recent games which has seen the Silkmen travel to both Leyton Orient and Dagenham.
With the Silkmen sitting in a lofty second place in the National League, he’s hoping that his squad can push on again against Eastleigh on Saturday in front of a big crowd.
Speaking to mtfc.co.uk after the Dagenham result John Askey said: “We’ve got to get back straight away and win the next one and hopefully we can do that on Saturday.
“It’ll be nice to be back at home since we’ve been travelling quite a bit recently so it’ll be nice to be back at home and hopefully we can get a decent crowd behind us and push on again.”
Askey also spoke about the shape of the squad, with Jared Hodgkiss and Shwan Jalal both missing from the action on Tuesday night, and he hinted he’s hopeful of adding some more players to the squad.
“I think Shwan will be available for Saturday, I’m not sure about Jared. Mitch was on the bench at Dagenham but he wasn’t fit. But hopefully everybody will be available for Saturday and we can push on with a full squad.
“We saw Dagenham have a lot of firepower tonight and now’s the time to add to the squad if we are going to do it.
“It’s not so much taking a gamble but it’s worth going for it.”
With the games coming around thick and fast in the division, Askey has now set his sights on Eastleigh, and says that with the confidence the squad have they can beat anybody.
“Whoever you play, top of the league or bottom of the league, it’s always a tough game.”
“Eastleigh have got some good players and if they perform then you’re up against it, but with the mood we’re in and the confidence the players are showing on the pitch, if we keep showing that then we believe anyone we play we can more than match.”
