Macclesfield’s unbeaten run came to an end at the hands of Dagenham on Tuesday night as a Morgan Ferrier strike snatched all three points for the hosts.
The result leaves the Silkmen in a very respectable 2nd place on goal difference alone.
Despite, the result there was some good football on show from Macc, especially in the first half and manager John Askey has said that on another day he thought the result would’ve been different.
He spoke to mtfc.co.uk after the game: “I don’t think Sam’s had a save to make, especially in the second half but again I think we’ve performed well and on another day, we would’ve got something out of the game.
“But tonight, we haven’t and we go onto the next game and we’re in a good position we’ve just been to Leyton Orient and Dagenham, I’m pleased of how we’ve played tonight we’ve just not got the result.
“Dagenham are a good side, they’ve got a lot of threat up top and they’ll be there or thereabouts this season and hopefully we will be as well.”
Askey also spoke about the mood in the dressing room after the game but again said that the players can start another winning run if they play the same way on Saturday against Eastleigh.
“The players are disappointed because obviously you never want to lose. But like we always say, we don’t get carried away when we win and we don’t get carried away when we lose so everybody’s confident.
“There’s been a lot of good performances and that the main thing. If we’d have have come here and not performed then you’d start to think, is this form coming to an end? But I thought some of the play was great and if we do that on Saturday then the result will be right for us.”
