New signing Jared Hodgkiss is remaining upbeat about the prospects of the club in the season ahead.
The 30-year-old right-back completed 90 minutes at Edgeley Park on Saturday as the Silkmen stepped up their pre-season.
Hodgkiss, who arrived from Kidderminster in March, admits that he is impressed by the style of football that Macclesfield are trying to play under John Askey.
Speaking to Silkmen TV Hodgkiss said: “On a personal level it was great to get 90 minutes and get that fitness into the body, but obviously we were all disappointed with the outcome of the game
“Obviously all the lads love playing football on the deck and it’s extremely nice to be able to do so here, but there were times where we had to do something else and clear our lines at Stockport. That’s, obviously, one thing we must work on, but we’d rather get the mistakes out of the way in pre-season instead of carrying them into the season.
“Tuesday will be another good opportunity for me and a few of the other lads to get another 90 minutes under the belt. It will be a very different test against Crewe but one we will look forward to and do our best to put things right from Saturday.
“Let’s take everything one step at a time and see how we get on for the rest of pre-season.”
