Jared Hodgkiss admits he is looking forward to his return to Forest Green, as he looks ahead of the FA Cup first round tie on Saturday.
After joining ‘the Greens’ in 2009, right back Hodgkiss went on to spend five seasons at the New Lawn. Going on to make close to 200 appearances in the process.
He, eventually, left to join Kidderminster Harriers in the summer of 2014, before linking up with Macclesfield last summer.
Now, the defender is looking forward to facing his old club in the FA cup and admits this game poses a different type of challenge for the team.
“It’ll be good to go back there,” he said, “it has been a couple of years since I played there, though, so I won’t recognise too many people.
“I had a lot of good times there, but now I’m just looking forward to this weekend and, hopefully, progressing into the next round. If we go out there and try and play our own game, and see where it takes us, I’m confident we can come away with the result.
Hodgkiss also went on to say that the cup game is a good chance for the team to move on from the game against Eastleigh last Saturday.
“Once you’ve lost, you want to just play the next game as soon as possible. The lads are jumping at the bit to get out there and play again.
“I think we did enough to get something out of the game against Eastleigh, especially in the second half, but that’s gone.
“It’s a decent test for us against a team in the league above. It will be tough but it's one where we’ve got a good chance of coming out on top so fingers crossed that we can do that."
